courses require their players to wear the
same shoes: some golf courses will require
that their players wear a certain type of
shoe, depending on weather conditions and
the state of the golf course at that
time.
In fact, not all golf courses recommend
that their players wear shoes with spikes,
which are often termed cleats. True,
spikes can increase traction for the
golfer, and can allow a golfer to fully
utilize the power of their legs during a
swing. Cleats can also prevent a player
from slipping or falling if, by any
chance, his or her ball lands on a
precipitous or undulating part of the
course.
However, spikes can represent a big
problem for golf course operators and
maintenance crew. If these spikes push too
far into the ground, they can damage the
golf course and tear up patches of earth.

shoes, and know how to balance their
bodies well enough so that they can
provide their own traction. Some golfers
also opt to wear golf shoes with suction
cups, since these provide traction without
damaging the golf course.

Golf in Florida Part 2

A long time favorite of mine has been a municipal course owned by the city of St. Petersburg, Mangrove Bay Golf Course, located just off Interstate 275 in the northern area of the city.
